Goals and Objectives

The main goal of the OCM in Russia is to develop and improve the coffee market in the Russian Federation.

OCM in Russia initiatives are concentrated in the following areas:

  • Enhancing the culture of coffee consumption in Russia;
  • Popularizing coffee products and the importance of coffee in the Russian food industry; and
  • Assisting in the harmonization of Russian coffee standards with current international standards and practices.

ICO priority areas for coffee

The ICO has identified four key areas for the global increase of coffee consumption:

  • Promotion of consumption in producing countries
  • Dissemination of positive health-related information on coffee
  • Promotion of consumption in emerging markets
  • Improvement of quality of coffee products

Health Care Professions Coffee Education Program in Russia

The OCM in Russia participates in and receives funding from the ICO-sponsored Health Care Professions Coffee Education Program (HCP CEP). The goal of the program is to provide the Russia medical community with the latest quantitative and qualitative research results on the health effects of coffee consumption on the human organism and to dispel myths about coffee consumption. Through the HCP CEP program, the medical community in Russia engages in dialogue and participates in a comprehensive professional lecture and training series across the country. The program was first initiated in Russia in 2004 by the OCM in Russia and it has developed dramatically over the past 5 years.
